This year, we are celebrating our 45th anniversary! For 45 years, The Shirt Shop has provided customers with the highest-quality clothing, and we’re proud to continue to embody that ideal today. Since 1979, we’ve provided traditional clothing and expanded our selection to include officially licensed apparel sporting the University of Alabama iconography. Our Build Your Own program is a fan favorite that allows you to customize your favorite items with various Alabama logos.

History of The Shirt Shop
Charles founded The Shirt Shop in August of 1979, during his last year at The University of Alabama. Needing the funding to get going, he used his mother's signature to borrow $5,000 from a local banker and then ventured into the clothing business. From its original location in downtown Tuscaloosa, The Shirt Shop began cultivating a customer base around town built on providing top-of-the-line traditional clothing while attending to each customer's individual needs.
As the company grew, so did the need for a larger space, and in 1999, The Shirt Shop relocated to its current home at 525 Greensboro Avenue. As intertwined with downtown Tuscaloosa as The Shirt Shop, the building it calls home is as much a part of town as anything else currently standing. Construction on the building’s basement began in 1830 with fieldstone pulled from the banks of the Black Warrior River, and today, we call the building home in its beautifully finished form, next door and around the corner from all of downtown's premier locations.
